Hi, am a little confused. Got my username/password/address, then it came up asking for payment details/what plan I wanted. My question is, do I need to buy a plan (the $35 P.A. would be the only one applicable to me) in order to use WordPress? All I want is a space to write my thoughts. Please, if anyone answers, bear in mind that I am a complete technophobe, the world of social media/blogging at being completely alien to me. Thanks.

Hey, welcome to WordPress! I’m sure your page is going to turn out looking awesome. If you’re looking just to do a simple site to write your thoughts, you may find the Free version to be a good fit for you. By heading to https://wordpress.com/pricing/, you can see all of the paid options, as well as the Free plan. If you click “Start with Free” then you’ll be able to walk through getting set up there step by step!
