Buying wordpress domains. Keep if you leave?

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to ask a quick question if anyone can help.
I’d like to register my own .com .org domain with WordPress
In the near future.However, if I ever leave WordPress can I keep this domain
Name or is it only mine whilst hosting with WordPress.Would really appreciate some help

Hi. As long as you continue to pay your dues, you’re in control of your domain name. If you leave WordPress.com, you can either change the nameservers so that they point to your new hosting provider.

that be free? Not sure how much the hosting fees are with WordPress, if any. -

No. You would still need to pay a domain mapping fee every year.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/Technically, hosting at WordPress.com with a basic __.wordpress.com address is free. It’s the upgrades (such as domain mapping) that cost extra.

There are limitations to blogging here at WordPress.com but I’m willing to accept them. I even moved a self hosted blog on its own domain back here again. See here for an entry re: the differences between frees hosted WordPress.com blogs and self hosted WordPress.org installs and figure in an average monthly total cost (including cost of a domain name) of about $10 to $25 generally, but that all depends on storage and bandwidth requirements.
