c-name in a domain registered within other than wordpress.com

    Hello!

    I tried to create a CNAME record within godaddy, where my domain name is registered, but Godaddy customer service told me that

    “to manage DNS with us [godaddy] you’d need to set the domain to use Standard nameservers”.

    As I’m currently pointing my nameservers to wordpress, I’m not using godaddy’s standard nameservers, so what they suggest me to do is if wordpress.com allows CNAME editing. Do you?

    Any other steps I should know to be able to edit the CNAME?

    Hi micawbr,

    thanks a lot for your help! I have a gallery hosted on a third-part website and wanted to customize the domain name so the host name didn’t show up. I had searched for cname info on wordpress.com but didn’t seem to find any, so the link you sent was very helpful. It’s all done now!
