    Are you able to provide a link to the current site so that we can make some initial estimations about the current set up.

    Going forward, do you know what functionality you’d require and any other goals you have for the site? (For example, do you require a contact form, an online store…etc).

    Lastly, are there any sites out there you like the look of and want to emulate design wise? We can make some suggestions with regards to that too.

    The above information will help us to put together some next steps, and guide you toward the required upgrade.

    Our sub branch looks after Australian veterans and there families. These veterans are either current or ex serving soldiers, sailors and airman of the Australian defence force. We also look after remembrance of those who have died defending our country and our allies. We need to have member only content and public advertising events and defence related info. We are a non profit small organisation run by volunteers. We need to have information and contact sheets, email contact along with membership renewals. Current website is out of date at http://www.cmdrsl.com.au and website host is spottydog.net.au regards Allan

    Sounds like a great cause! Are you looking to hire someone to build a new site for you, or would you like us to provide support as you set it up?

    If you’d like to build it on your own, here are the steps I’d recommend:

    • Start with a new site here: https://wordpress.com/start
    • For the plan, I would recommend Premium — this should fit well with the customizations and members area you’d like.
    • You may want to skip the domain step for now so you can copy the existing content over.

    Next, you’ll want to copy the text of each page from the existing site to the new site, before you build out the “template” for the site. So go to https://wordpress.com/page to start a new page. Give it the same name as an existing page (links for example) then copy the content over. If you want to get fancy, you can add a pattern and copy the content into that instead.

    Once you have your content copied over, we can help you get the look and feel set up as you’d like, so let us know when you’re ready!
