Cache clearing

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I have a severe and urgent problem with materials that were removed but still cached on your systems, despite requests to remove them.
Kindly contact me privately ASAP to help me resolve this and avoid further actions.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

The WordPress.com account you’re using to post here was only created four hours ago, and has never owned any sites with us.

We cannot remove content from WordPress.com under any circumstances at the request of a third party.

Please log in as the account that owns the content in question, and provide more details on what exactly you’d like removed. If this is regarding a WordPress.com username account that you closed, please reply to the account closure confirmation email we sent you for help with this.

    Hi,

I am approaching you as the materials are harmful to me, however, I have no access to the any account, hence I cannot clear the cache myself, and I was notified by the owner that he removed the original material and have asked you twice to clear the cache. Yet, while the original is gone, the cache remains on your systems.

I can provide you with link I found, but prefer to do it in a non public forum. I registered to this forum as this was the only channel I could allocate to communicate with you.

Kindly advise as the materials are harmful to me and I need them removed urgently. As the owner already asked you twice, I simply don’t know what else to do.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Can you confirm the URL to the material? Happy to take a look and confirm that the owner asked for our help in removing it, and purging our cache if it’s still in there, thanks

    Hi,

I would be more than happy to do so and I have found so far 9 images that were removed from the original website, but are still cached on your servers and therefore also found by search engines.

As the links themselves contain harmful information as part of the URL, is it possible to send it to you on a privet channel ? I don’t want it to be recorded on this public forum for eternity.

    Thanks.

  • We can remove the URLs from your reply after you post them here, so they’re not publicly accessible.

    Hi,

OK. Please do take all URLs off once you copy them locally.

Please review what I have found below, and perhaps you can find more there. It’s all images which are found by search engines, but if you click the link, it takes you nowhere as the originals were removed.

    [redacted by staff]

Once again – Please make sure to remove all URLs from here !

    Thanks for the help !

  • Thanks for the links.

Those files have not been removed from the media library of the site where they have been uploaded, so clearing our cache for those images won’t do anything – they’ll just be re-cached instantly. You can check this yourself – the images still load if you remove the i0.wp.com/ part of the URL, which loads the file directly from the media library rather than from our cache.

The images can only be cleared from the cache if they’re first deleted from the site’s media library. Only the site owner can do this

So you’ll need to follow up with the person who owns that site directly with this. As I said in my first reply above, we cannot remove content from any site at the request of someone who is not the site owner.

If you believe these images contain personal information about you, or are otherwise violating our terms of service, you can report the site as explained at https://wordpress.com/support/report-blogs/

But otherwise there is nothing we can do in this case.

    Hi Again,

So now the original pictures were removed from the website, but are still available in the cache.

When can I expect the cache to automatically clear ? Or it must be done manually ? Can you take care please ?

    Thanks.

Were the images just removed from a post/page? They need to be removed from the Media Library too to be gone for good. Note that search engines cache images too.

  • Once they’ve fully removed the images, they will disappear from cache shortly thereafter. I’m not seeing any of them on my side, so they should be fully gone soon.

If you’re still seeing any of those images, can you let us know which one? You can just send the last part of the file name if you’d like (enough that we can tell which one you’re referring to from our notes.)
