Is it possible to incorporate my Café Press store to my blog?
If so, what do I need to do?
I’m not very technical, so if someone can please help with step by step instructions I would greatly appreciate it!!

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, you can link to a Café Press store if you like. For example, you could add it as a custom link in a custom menu.

If you mean something else, just let me know. Is there an example of what you’re trying to do that you could provide a link for? Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to respond!
By adding my Café Press store as a custom link, would I do the following:
    Go to Blog Admin
Go to Links, then click on ADD a link.
Most of the categories are easily explanatory, such as Name, Web Address, Description.
What would I add for categories? Should I click on ADD NEW CATEGORY?
What about Target? Should I click on “blank” – new window or tab? (I do want another Tab)
What about LINK RELATIONSHIP (XFN)? Would I click on Identity – another web address? Would anything go in the box above this choice ? (Rel: )
    After creating a NEW LINK?
Where would I find this? on the side bar to the right?
Similar to my ‘ABOUT ME’ page?

I’m looking for the easiest way to get my Café Press store (I sell t-shirts and hats) connected to my horse racing blog.
I’ve seen some blogs with their Café Press store on their side bar to the right.

    I appreciate your help!

  • You only need to add two things – a link to your CafePress store, and the text you want people to see in the menu. Example:

    http://cl.ly/image/1y460X1c2c2d

Be sure to put the link to your particular store.

Where would I find this? on the side bar to the right?

Once you’ve created a menu and assigned it to the Primary Menu area of your theme, it will appear at the top of your site, above your header.

I’ve seen some blogs with their Café Press store on their side bar to the right.

If you could link me to an example I’d be glad to take a look.

In the link that you sent, where would I find this?

Is it in my Blog Admin >> Dashboard>> Links?

I don’t know where this would be? Or.. I may be overlooking it.
After adding the URL link to the Café Press store and what I would like my viewers to see>> I click on ADD TO MENU

What do I have to do next to ‘assign’ it to the PRIMARY MENU of my theme?

I’ll try it and see if this is what I’m looking for , again thank you so much for your time in helping me.

What I meant is I have seen blogs with Café Press stores as well as Amazon stores to the right of their blog in the side bar. They may have been Affiliates.

    Thank you,
    Melanie

  • You can set up your custom menu under Appearance > Menus:

    https://skimtherail.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php

Instructions on how to set up a custom menu are here:

    Menus

What do I have to do next to ‘assign’ it to the PRIMARY MENU of my theme?

You would make sure Primary Menu is checked off here:

What I meant is I have seen blogs with Café Press stores as well as Amazon stores to the right of their blog in the side bar. They may have been Affiliates.

It’s not going to be possible to do that on WordPress.com, but if you have seen that on a WordPress.com site, just send me a link and I’ll be glad to have a look.

    Hello!
I had another question regarding my Café Press Store.
Café Press is saying that I could add a Widget to my wordpress blog:

    http://www.cafepress.com/cp/widgets/

I check: To promote gear in my store, I pick a widget size, color then click on create a code.

Café press said the widget works with wordpress, but once I copy the code… Where do I go on my blog to paste it?
I went into my blog admin, and checked the widget tab, but I had no idea where I should paste this code. Instructions say to copy and paste the code into your HTML, but I don’t know what that means.

    Could you please help me!

    Thank you,
    MM

  • Hi there, I took a look at the widget code, and it’s a type of code called JavaScript, which we don’t allow on WordPress.com for security reasons. You can learn more about the types of code we allow.

When Cafe Press says the widget works with WordPress, they’re referring to self-hosted WordPress sites. You can learn more here about the differences between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress sites.

Just let me know if you have any other questions.

    I got it!
    Thank you for the information.
I think I’ll just follow your steps on creating a link on my main page that will be on the menu on my wordpress blog.

    Thank you!

  • My pleasure – good luck!
