Calendar
-
I have a ‘class calendar’ page in the menu section of my website (on the top of the pg). I linked a google calendar to the class calendar page so that it shows a working calendar on that page. When I am editing my website and I click to view the calendar page, it shows the google calendar. But when I view the website, not as an editor, but as a normal viewer, the calendar does not show up. Instead, one of my blog posts shows up. I don’t understand what has happened.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

HI there,
So just a few questions, before we can assist you further,
so the Page you are trying to link the Menu item “Class Calendar”
is the page added to your account, and there is Google Calendar embedded in it, what is the name of the Page?Or are you trying to link the Menu item “Class Calendar” to a Google Calendar outside of WordPress?
If we can know that, we can help you further. Hope to hear back soon.

To answer your question, I am trying to link the Menu item “Class Calendar” to a Google Calendar outside of WordPress. I didn’t realize there was any other way. Thanks.

Hi there,
So yeah you can do that by this way, go to Themes–>Customize–>Menu , so you can Edit the Menu, so the Menu Item, Class Calendar,
make it as a Link item ,
Menu ItemsIn the guide above you will see the Link item, which helps you to link it a external page as well, so you can assign it to the Google Calendar URL. This will get your users out of the WordPress website.
But the second Option which I would recommend have a look at this
Google CalendarBy using this you can embed the Google Calendar you have within you website. You can use the above guide to create the Google Calendar code of your calendar.
Then Create a Page using this guide
Pages
and embed the Google Calendar page within the Page.
And then finally assign your Class Calendar, make it into a Page item in the menu and assign it to display the page you made using the Google Calendar.
This will show the Google Calendar within your WordPress website, and keep your viewers on there itself.Hope this helps..! Let us know if you have any further queries…!
Best Regards

I had embedded my google calendar using the same directions that you forwarded me. I did this before talking to you. But I still have the problem. I even went through the process all over again after talking to you, just to make sure I didn’t do something wrong but I the problem still persists.

Hi,
So when I look at the linking of your Menu Item, it links to https://messymakerssite.wordpress.com/2017/04/17/sparkly-shiny-eggs/So it seems that the Menu item is not set correctly,
In the Dashboard in the Menu , what does it show next to the Menu Item “Class Calendar” is it Page or Link or Category or Tag or Post ?Could you walk me through the steps one by one, so we can figure out, where are we getting struck and how can we resolve it.
Were you successfully able to generate the Google Calendar code from your calendar?
Have you made a Page with the Google Calendar?
Can you preview the page in your WordPress Dashboard?
Does it have the Google Calendar within it?
What is the name of the page?Sorry for too many questions, but just trying to analyze, the steps in more details, so we can figure out, if we are missing out on anything..! Thank you for co-operating..!

Sorry. I didn’t get back to you for a while bc I was busy. I am very stumped by your questions and wish I could answer them better. I just now figured out how to get to the dashboard by entering “/wp-admin” at the end of my url.
How do you see the “linking of the menu item,” as you had mentioned? You wrote, “In the Dashboard in the Menu , what does it show next to the Menu Item “Class Calendar” is it Page or Link or Category or Tag or Post ?” What does that mean? How do I find the Menu item “Class Calendar” in the dashboard menu? I have found “Class Calendar” under “pages” but haven’t been able to find any links.
The page I made with the google calendar is the page called “class calendar”. I embedded the html code from my google calendar online to the “class calendar” page.
I feel like this is so beyond me at this point!

Howdy messymakerssite !
I am sorry, my questions were too many :) and its absolutely fine to clarify it further, from your details further I will try to explain you ahead,So from your details, you already have a Page “Class Calendar” and also embedded the html code as well.
We need to link this page to the Menu item Class Calendar
1) Navigate to Menu Item and remove it
Firstly from your Dashboard Navigate to Personalize
Themes–>Customize–>Menu
Keep this Guide Open https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Now when you are in the Menu section
You will see Main Menu or Primary MenuClick on it, then you will see all your menu items listed
HOME
ABOUT ME
ABOUT MESSY MAKERS
CLASS CALENDAR
CONTACT
You can then just click it “Class Calendar” the item will open, at the bottom it will show you “remove” , just make sure the “Class Calendar” item is removed, then just simply remove the Class calendar item.
2)Add Menu item as Page and link correctly
One’s you are here, you can then use this guide to Add item
https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#2-add-menu-itemsUsing this guide You need to Add a new Menu Item name it ” Class Calendar”
and link the Page “Class Calendar” which you already have to the Menu item “Class Calendar”, as when you select the pages, it should appear in your options as you already have the “Class Calendar” page.
Now the Menu Item should appear on the Menu Bar and it should be linked to the page as well as the correct page should appear.
3)Organize Menu
Chances are that your Menu Items must be unorganized you can use this guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#3-organize-your-menuAnd organize your Menu Items the way you want them to appear!
I hope this helps..! Let me know how it goes, would be happy to assist you further..! :)

Wow. Thank you. I went through so much agony trying to figure this out. I think I finally figured out the problem. I had two different pages labeled as “class calendar” by mistake. One of them had the calendar embedded. The other one was a mess of other random stuff on it. I don’t know how that happened. But it sure took me to figure out why it wasn’t working. Now it works. Thank you very much for your help and patience! I’m glad that you have the patience because I have lost mine!

Hi this is Amy again with an issue about my website calendar. I cut and paste the calendar in the HTML section of my “class calendar” page and I thought everything was fine, but now I realize that none of my events show up on the calendar. The calendar is blank. I even tried re-pasting the code in the html section but it didn’t make any difference.
-
Hi Amy !
Please share the link of the Calendar so I can have a look at it and can compare the events, here are some troubleshooting issues1)”Share only my free/busy information (Hide details)” which is also checked by default, while copying the code.
UNCHECK that box (which was checked by default) !The copy the calendare code and try again.
2) Also, can you check your Google calendar to make sure you’re adding it to the calendar that’s embedded on your site? Google allows you to create multiple calendars, and only events added to the calendar that’s embedded there will appear — if the event is added to a different Google calendar, it won’t show up on your site there.
In the sidebar on the left, under “My Calendars” and “Other Calendars” you’ll see all of the Google calendars you have access to. You can click on those calendars to make their events appear or disappear from the calendar view, or click on the events to see which calendar they belong to. If you have multiple calendars there, all of their events will appear on that screen on Google but only the events in the one calendar you embedded on your site will appear on your site.
Let me know how it goes, can assist you further accordingly.

https://messymakerssite.wordpress.com/classes/
This is the link to my calendar.
1. The box you told me to uncheck was already unchecked
2. I only used the google calendar code from the calendar entitled “messy makers” . The code is from only my messy makers calendar. It’s not from another calendar in google. -
Actually the problem WAS # 2, the code. I’m not gonna get into detail abt the issue bc it’ll be exhausting to describe but thanks for the help. It’s now fixed!
