  My site needs a calendar of events, this is the plugin I would like to use: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/screenshots/
  Unless you have some other suggestion?

  I do not understand how an information site could not have a calendar.

  There are a few options that are already available to you, have a look at the first 4 links on the support search results for “calendar” and see if using iCalendar, Eventbrite or a Google calendar will work for you.
