Calendar search option

My blog is an events promotion blog. I’m wondering if there’s anything available to create a calendar tool that can be populated and then sorted for a reader to search by date, or click on a date on a calendar to see what events are being held that day. This is the bread and butter of the goal of my blog and will reduce the manual posts that I create using my Google calendar, but I’m not sure if WordPress has the ability to do something like this. Can you offer any suggestions?

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
