Calendar Widget
-
The time on my calendar widget is different from my icalendar on my computer that I synced with. Why?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

hours…every event listed on my calendar for evening hours shows up as afternoon on my calendar widget.

Do you have your the timezone for your site set correctly to your local time:

Can you show me a specific post/event to look into as an example?
Also, just a note that might help improve traffic for you. You are using too many tags/categories. That will keep your posts from appearing in the search/reader:
However, you don’t want irrelevant content showing up on the topic listings or search, and neither do we. That’s why we limit the number of tags and categories that can be used on a public tag listing. Five to 15 tags (or categories, or a combination of the two) is a good number to add to each of your posts. The more categories you use, the less likely it is that your post will be selected for inclusion in the topic listings.

I hope you don’t mind the unsolicited advice on that.

Huh! And here I thought I should add more tags to I would get more traffic. Thank you for the tip!
On the left side of my storytosong blog, I have a calendar widget called “Upcoming Performances.” All the events are 4 hours earlier on the site than on my calendar.
Upcoming Performances

So, this is not a solution yet. It’s just a post to point out that in researching the issue, I stumbled across the fact that you previously lived in Skagit County. Which is where I grew up and is a few short miles from where I now sit (slightly north of there).
Anyway, still looking into the calendar issue.
-
So, I subscribed to your ical feed that you list in the widget, and I am seeing everything be 1 hour off from where it should be. The Brew’d Awakening-Live Performance shows as October 22, 2013 at 9:00 am – 11:00 am in the widget and as 10-12 (noon) on the ical feed.
I’m suspicious that there is a timezone issue somewhere.
-
Awesome!! I MISS the skagit…I lived in the upper Skagit and worked at North Cascades National Park :)
-
A beautiful part of the world. I love it here.
A thought, are these events reoccurring events in ical? Or are they one time events?
-
Hi there!
I went in and double and triple checked the time zone. It is indeed EST. And the Brew’d event should be 1-3pm, which is what it says on my computer icalendar.
The Back Page and The Space events are repeat.
-
Just for the heck of it, can you look in iCal “preferences–>advanced” and see if you have time zone support turned on or off?
This probably isn’t the issue, but I’m trying to rule it out.
-
It had been turned off, but the other day I went in and turned it on to make sure I was indeed operating in the Eastern zone…right now, it is turned on. Should I turn it off again?
-
I haven’t forgotten you, I just ma having a devil of a time figuring this out.
The reason I was asking about the “time zone support” issue is that when it is on, you can set specific time zones for each post. And I was wondering if that was somehow mucking things up.
-
No worries! I am trying to remember how I added the calendar link to the widget in the first place. I wonder if deleting the widget and starting over would fix it? Maybe, it was just a temporary blip?
-
If you don’t mind, I would love to see what happens if you delete the widget and set it back up again.
-
Hi there!
I discovered that the widget I am using is the Upcoming Events from an iCalendar feed and not the Calendar widget in the list. I deleted and recreated but times are still off by the same amount.
-
So, as you can probably tell, there is something amiss with the Upcoming Events widget. We are aware of the issue and are looking into it.
I will post updates here as they are available: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/upcoming-events-widget-is-having-a-few-problems?replies=1
Please subscribe to that thread so that you are alerted to them.
My apologies for all the trouble! And thank you for your patience.
