Called-out comments
-
Hi,
It’ll be cool to have an option for blog authors to ‘Like’ or ‘Call-out’ specific comments on their posts and display a quick list of it on the top just below the title of the blog post. I think it’s a great idea to have creative discussion and feature it so that other visitors will get quick attention to your posts. Also, it might encourage blog visitors to comment in a perfect words and more sophisticated way.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I understand what you are suggesting. I’m simply posting as I noticed you do not have ratings on your comments and I thought you might want to see this entry as you can enable PollDaddy ratings on your WordPress.com blog posts, pages, and comments.

Thank you timethief, I’ve gone through comments rating but that’s open for everyone who finds that particular comment interesting. What I mean is, there should be separate option for blog authors so that only he can select more interesting comments among others and feature it.
The idea is somewhat similar like on Forbes. Just for a reference, go through any article on Forbes site or see my profile: http://blogs.forbes.com/people/jitendramulay/

I did understand what you posted. I only wanted to be sure you knew Ratings existed, is all. -
I think “Called out comments” are fab. Forbes created their mechanism themselves – haven’t seen it anywhere else yet, but it’s a great feature. It comes from True/Slant which Forbes purchased in 2010. They explain it here: Why great user comments should be treated as content
In the meantime, you could screenshot good comments and addend them to your post, but this can’t be the best work-around?

That’s a good idea. I’ve always thought that WordPress should have its own Disqus/Facebook-type commenting system (since those are so often requested here), which would function the same across all themes. In addition to other bells and whistles (like a “Preview” button!), it could have options for sorting comments, such as chronologically, reverse chronologically, by high/low rating, viewing only pingbacks or reblogs, etc. And that could also include a “called out” or featured comment option.
