Can´t insert image into post

  • Unknown's avatar

I am using a blog here on wordpress.com. BUt since the change, I can´t insert images into my posts. I go to the media uploader and choose “Image”. Then I upload the image from my computer and everything is fine, I can see a thumbnail of the picture and all. But when I then press “insert into post”, nothing happens! The screen where you upload goes blanc, and I press the X and there is no picture in my post. However, the image is uploaded if I look in the image files I have uploaded. But it´s not in my post. Help, what should I do? I don´t get anything right now….

I had the same problem yesterday. It doesn’t help to code the HTML instead of the visual editor either, right?

I messaged support and now it’s all good!

Make sure your cursor is placed in the post and blinking where you want to insert the image. From the editor, click on the far right icon (looks like a spiky circle), then click on Media Library. Click on the thumbnail of the image you wish to insert, then scroll down in the window that appears, make the changes you wish (Link ULR, size), then click the “insert into post” button. Sometimes the insert into post button on the upload window does not work for me, and sometimes it does, but going through the “media library” has always worked for me.

If you want to code it into the HTML window, you can. Upload the image using the “add an image” function, but after the image has uploaded, copy the image “Link URL” to the clipboard and then click the “save all changes” button at the bottom of the window. Close the upload window. Go into HTML view and create the link to the image in HTML using the URL you copied into the clipboard.

Tried all your suggestions…nothing is working for me. Although i was able to upload images since the update took place. What else can I try?

With the editor open, and in the visual editor, put the cursor where you want the image. Click on the tree icon in the visual editor toolbar and insert the URL of the image there.

Also, make sure you have the latest Adobe flash installed in your browser:

    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Try another browser. If you are using IE or Safari, try firefox. Safari 2.x.x will quite probably have issues, while Safari 3.x will not.

If you are using Linux, there is a problem with the Adobe flash plugin for Linux and

I got round a lot of these problems by downloading and installing Windows Live Writer. Once you have configured it to feed your blog, you can edit everything before uploading to the blog. It works well. One big advantage is that you can insert pictures, size them and so on and put them where you want on the page.
If it looks OK in the writer, it will look OK on the blog.
I’m no genius with all this, which is why I decided to use WLW. And if I can use it, anybody can.

First is to upload your image what ever server you use and then copy thr url of the image.
Just edit your post and it will say in the tool bar img. then upload your save image.
Give it a name to describe the image. Place it anywhere in your post you want it to be.
It will be located at the bottom of your post after you uploaded it.

OK…Exile. Thanks for the news about Window Live. I just DL’d it and installed a very rudimentary copy without any bells and whistles.

But now it’s asking me to trust it with my WP blog, and I’ve never trusted MS with any more than my hotmail address.

If I tell it to go ahead, will my blog be eternally and hopelessly tangled with Windows live?

  • Unknown's avatar

No, it just needs the login information so that it can connect to your blog.

  • Unknown's avatar

Nope, won’t work. I not only can’t insert an image but I can’t toggle back and forth between html and visual view. If I go to html, the post window goes blank, then I can’t get back to visual. This really is crap since the “improvement changes” . So now I can’t manage widgets, can’t add images. What’s next?

What browser and version are you using – and operating system?

  • Unknown's avatar

either upload it to http://www.photobucket.com and copy the img code and paste it under HTML section

of upload it to media library and post it inside post =)

riraito could you please stop leaving your site URL as a sig it comes across
very spam like and your user name is link to your site. so there is no need
for you to type your site URL in every post.

P.S. It’s the fastest way to get people to ignore your site

how do I upload contents of pdf file into my post?

“If you are using Linux, there is a problem with the Adobe flash plugin for Linux “

If you download the latest flash version from this URL: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
untar the file and simply copy libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/
    flash works fine in firefox

NB: you d’ont need to install flashplayer to use the plugin only.

Thanks thesacredpath, your “spiky circle” worked for me. Previously I had klicked on the image, but when I instead klicked on the spiky centre everything worked fine. So thanks for the support!

    @mangeshkakade
Upload a PDF like you would an image. Click on “Add an Image” then choose files, locate the PDF and upload it. If you look right above the Choose files button it show which files you can upload.

They really need to go back to calling it upload files since it’s about more than just media.
