Can a blog be co-authored by a friends WordPress account?

Me and my friend are wanting to set up a blog together. Is it possible for his account to be a co-author of the blog, or will I only have access to it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Only one account / person can own a blog
You can add another person as a user to a blog – many can contribute to a blog – having a lot of Admins can be an issue if someone gets upset and deletes the blog – so other people are best added as Editors

I am Admin on some friends blog and contribute to more than one blog – just having been added as a user (Editor)
