Can a file (that I include in a post) be keyword searchable?
-
I would like to scan my 1973 high school yearbook using OCR software. (I don’t know which software and am open to suggestions. So far I’ve only messed a little with OmniPage.) The yearbook is about 60 pages long, so I’d have about six scan files of 10 yearbook pages each. The files would include photos and text. I’d like to post the files on my blog having the names of people (in the yearbook) be keyword searchable.
Is this possible to post a scan file in a WordPress blog post and have words within the file be keyword searchable on the web? And, if so, any help you could offer will be appreciated.
For example, if in the yearbook John Rolfe’s name appears on the same page as his picture, is there a way for me to post the digital file of that page on my blog and, when people do a Google search on John Rolfe, have Google direct them to that file on my blog?
Thank you in advance for any advice you are able to offer.

Post a “scan file?” It depends what file format you post. If you type it in and upload pictures, then sure. If you just add it as a PNG or (god forbid) JPG then no. The title, the alt text, the caption and the description will be searchable, but they’ll be downgraded compared to actual text in actual posts.
