Can a (free) websitename.wordpress.com be changed to a .com only name?

    Hi I have a free domain with ‘wordpress’.com extension

    Can I have the worpress part removed so it reads as name.com ?
    or must I upgrade inorder to do this?
    Also can someone else own just the name.com domain if I have the
    WP extension on it?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Using a custom domain name requires a paid WordPress.com plan. It cannot be done on the free plan:

    Also can someone else own just the name.com domain if I have the WP extension on it?

    Are you asking if someone can own myroaminglefteye.com if you own myroaminglefteye.wordpress.com? If so, yes, that is possible. Owning one does not stop someone from owning the other.
