Can a guided transfer import data to an already operating wordpress.org site
-
I have built a WordPress.org website on HostGator that will be hosting a friend’s podcast (temporary address is http://174.132.106.2/~dlcastle/wordpress/). The podcast episodes are currently being listed at http://constitutionpartyoftennessee.com/blog/ which is a WordPress.com site. Can a guided transfer extract the email subscribers from the current WordPress.com site so that they can be imported into the “WP Autoresponder” plugin that I am using for subscriptions on the new site?
Also, is it possible to import the old episode listings into the new site without overwriting the existing posts that are already on the new site?

Hi there,
If you are the owner of the current WordPress.com site, we can migrate the subscribers over to the new WordPress.org site as long as you have installed the JetPack plugin. We cannot however import them in to any other third party plugin database.
In regard to your podcasts, you can use the Export/Import functions to transfer the contents over and no data will be overwritten. You can read about how to export and import via these articles:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/The Import article is specifically for WordPress.com, but it will be very similar for a WordPress.org blog.
