can a widget link open in a new tab?

  i am trying to figure out how to get a link within the wp image widget to open in a new tab. is that possible? i don’t want people to be directed away from the main site when they click on it.

  Not in the prefab image widget. If you put it in a text widget and do the coding yourself, sure.
