Can a WordPress.com paid theme be downloaded and installed onto a .org blog?

    I would like to purchase a WordPress.com theme to redesign a website, however I need to find out first whether the blog template can be used on .org or not.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

    No, themes on WordPress.com can’t be downloaded and used on a self-hosted WordPress site. (If you plan to use it on a self-hosted WordPress site, you should not purchase it through WordPress.com.)

    However, some themes are available for both, so if a theme is sold here on WordPress.com, it’s worth checking to see if it’s available elsewhere for self-hosted WordPress and searching for it under Themes on WordPress.org.
