Can anyone help uploading pics?
-
Hi. I cannot figure out how to upload a picture (jpg, about 276kb) without it appearing huge and only a corner of the picture actually showing. I cannot find the thumbnail option. I can only select “full size” or “title”. Can anyone offer advice? Thanks.

try deleting the picture and uploading it again. if that doesn’t make the thumbnail option appear, you can edit the code in the post like this:
`<img src=”http://yourusername.wordpress.com/files/2008/03/imagefilename.thumbnail.jpg” alt=”imagefilename.jpg” />’
note the word ‘thumbnail’ in the code.
-
If your images are longer than 2000px on the longest side, the thumbnail option will not appear in the “send to editor” window.

…and here is a how-to for optimizing pictures: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/08/optimise-your-images/

I can not upload my pictures at all.
When I press upload I get this error message ‘Unable to create directory /var/www/vhosts/littlematters.co.uk/httpdocs/wp-content/2008/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
Any ideas?

Photo Toolkit should also be added to the list. Irfanview is huge and has a confusing interface. PT integrates with XP’s fileview and I can resize, crop, and resample pictures very easily. It’s really great for people who have no intention of becoming retouch experts.
