Can Certain Companies and/or Individuals Be BLOCKED from Commenting on My Blog?

  I am receiving an overwhelming amount of spam/irrelevant comments from individuals, such as those listed below. Can you please block and/or ask these individuals to stop flooding my blog with their annoying, irrelevant, and often excessively lengthy comments? I’ve deleted several hundreds of their comments, and they’ve since sent that many and even more. There are also numerous other individuals posting irrelevant information and links on my blog, several of whom I have reported to the Federal Trade Commission; I’ll also single those particular individuals out, but this is a start:

  Hi there Yolanda, Sorry you’re dealing with this — spammers are insidious.

  If these spam comments are being published on your site, please blacklist them and mark them as spam rather than delete them. Not only will this hold some of them at bay, but it will actually teach Akismet (our spam filtering feature) which of these commenters are spam and should be caught in your filter before being published on your site.

  Additionally, if you haven’t already, you may want to set up your comments moderation in a different way. You can either approve/disapprove everyone’s comments. Or, you can require that comments have had ONE approved comment before they’re allowed to continue commenting without moderation.
