Can comments automatically close in minutes not days?
-
Hi
I know that comments can be set to close after a couple of days. What I’d really like is for them to close after 10 minutes. It doesn’t seem to be possible to put fractions of a day into the setting’s box –
‘Automatically close comments on articles older than_days’
Is there any other way of closing them other than manually that I’ve missed?
Thanks

No I’m sorry there isn’t any way to accomplish closing comments in minutes time following publication automatically. If you wish you can manually close future comments on any individual page or post however. This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also overide the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page. -
I have also noted that you have linked your WordPress.com username to a WordPress.org install. Please note that this forum is only for those with free hosted WordPress.com blogs who have issues with WordPress.com multiuser software.
If you have issues with self hosted WordPress.org software then you must post to the correct support forum for your software here http://wordpress.ORG/support/

Thanks for getting back so quickly – I thought it was going to be a manual job due to the time factor, but if you don’t ask you never know.
The site is blagdonquiz.wordpress.com so it is a wordpress.com site, though the main one is a wordpress.org site so hence the username. Using the .com sites gave us enough confidence to try a .org but we still love wordpress.com especially as it’s constantly evolving :-)
Thanks again

Note also that you have many different options with a WordPress.ORG install and many parts of the software work very different than here at WordPress.COM.
You should ask over at WordPress.ORG for the definitive answer.
