Can comments be disabled

  I have to create a website for my school, but i want to use wordpress.com. The down side is that I dont want the comment feature on it. Is it possible to disable the comment feature on any blog ? Thanks

  Hi. You can disable comments on pages or posts already published, and if you wish, on future pages or posts:
