Can domain name be directed to a different (wordpress.com) blog that I have?

  When we set up the site, our WordPress address accidentally registered as galesburguccdotorg.wordpress.com. We didn’t actually want the “dotorg” as part of our address. We also purchased a domain name through WordPress for that address.

  But it is irking me to have that rather unattractive address (even though most folks will only see our domain name), and I wonder if it is now possible to point the domain name to a different site that we have — galesburgucc.wordpress.com (which we should have used in the first place). Would we now need to purchase a domain redirect if it is moving within wordpress.com?

  Do you mean that you want to point the purchased domain name to galesburgucc.wordpress.com? Or that you want to point galesburguccdotorg.wordpress.com to galesburgucc.wordpress.com. Or both?

  My hope is to point the purchased domain name to galesburgucc.wordpress.com. Then I would just “retire” the longer address. (of course, I will need to move the content, but that is not a problem.)

  Not a problem. That is a super easy switch.

  However, the issue is that the account you are posting from is not the account that owns the galesburg-ucc.org upgrade. And without the upgrade owner making the request, I can’t make the switch.

  Thank you, rootjosh. That makes perfect sense. It may take a couple of days to connect with the pastor, due to our schedules this week. But when I do, I’ll have her respond in this thread and make the request.

  I think that we have the ownership problem straightened out now, and hopefully this post comes directly from the owner account. So I’ll renew the request to point the purchased domain name to galesburgucc.wordpress.com. Let me know if there is still a problem. Thanks.

  Okay, I’ve made that switch. Let me know if it is working for you.

  You may need to clear your browser’s cache if the domain keeps taking you to the old site.
