Can Guided Transfer help me transfer a blog to WordPress.org web site?

  I would like to integrate my blog (totalrewards.wordpress.com) with my firm’s web site (www.charltonconsulting.com). The website is hosted at Rackspace and runs on WordPress.
  Blog url: http://totalrewards.wordpress.com/

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Rackspace isn’t one of our transfer partners, so we won’t be able to help you transfer there, but you can transfer yourself following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

  Thanks. One follow-up: what I want to do is integrate the blog (the one currently on wordpress.com) as part of the web site – it’s not just moving the blog to a new domain. Can you point me to resources with info on this?

  Do you want the posts to just appear within the existing WordPress blog, or have an entirely separate blog?

  What I want to do is have the blog (http://totalrewards.wordpress.com/) appear on a tab of my web site (www.charltonconsulting.com). Our web site uses WordPress as the content management system.

  Ok, so in that case you could do 2 things:

  1. Keep your blog at WordPress.com and just link to it.

  2. Install a separate WordPress installation at something like charltonconsulting.com/blog/ or blog.charltonconsulting.com, then transfer your content: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

  Is there no way to “nest” the blog within the site? Can I add a new page to the site and import the WXR file to that page?

  No, pages are a form of content, like posts, so they can’t contain posts. If your WordPress site already has a blog page with posts, the best you can would be to create a new category for just these posts.

  If you don’t actually have any posts yet, you could certainly import this directly into the WordPress site.

  First off, thanks so much for your quick responses. Awesome.

  No, I don’t have any posts yet – only pages. I just want to be sure that if I import the WXR file I am not going to do something to the pages that I have.

  No, it won’t affect the pages at all. It may add some new ones, but they can be quickly deleted if necessary.
