can I add a cart or paypal to my blog
-
I would like to build a new blog and use it as a website to sell some items. Is it possible to have a checkout sysytem on wordspress?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It is not possible to have a cart or any of the dynamic, javascript-based functions on Paypal. You can have a Donate button, but nothing like Buy It Now.
WordPress.COM is very poorly suited for ecommerce. You will want to look at WordPress.ORG for that.

I’m guessing that you could still have an external paypal section or site linked up and direct your links to the appropriate sections. That’s what I’m hoping to do with my blog section etc.

raincoaster’s advice is sound. If you want a blog equipped for ecommerce then the best way to proceed is to hire a web host and get a free wordpress.ORG install.
This is because the wordpress.com TOS applies to all free hosted wordpress.com blogs. Free hosted wordpress.com blogs cannot be used to drive traffic to third party sites; we cannot advertise on them; we cannot post affiliate links (see: narrow exception in types of blogs), and we cannot retail or resell anything we do not create ourselves on free hosted wordpress.com blogs.
