Can I add a search and subscribe function to my site?

Hello, I’ve recently switched my site to ‘The Columnist’ theme and I notice that I seem to have lost the search and subscribe/follow and all Social Media buttons. I tried to add them back in through widgets but couldn’t see them there as an option. Is this a limitation of this theme? Or is there a way around it?

Each theme puts widgets in different places. Some themes, don’t have spots for widgets at all. The columnist theme does support widgets–but they show up at the bottom of posts. If you look at the bottom of this post you’ll see your widgets are still there.

If that placement doesn’t work for you, you’ll need a different theme.
