Can I add image links to my WordPress.com blog?
-
I’m one of those recent Microsoft Live Spaces migration converts, so I’m still trying to get a feel for WordPress.
Since MS is discontinuing many of their free services, in favor of “premium” services, I would prefer moving my whole website to WordPress (IF WP can handle it).
Anyway, as you can see on my current website (http://www.ScottJSmith.com), I placed my social network icons (links) in the header of each page. I had hoped to place these next to the menu items in the menu bar, but it eluded me all this time.
Moving to WordPress, I’d like to have those icons appear on the same line as the menu options. Currently, they appear in the sidebar (which, I guess I could settle for, if necessary) at http://scottjsmith.wordpress.com. I see I can make a custom menu, but the options look like I can only add text.
Ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t place them in the menu bar. You can place them in the sidebar as you’ve seen or in each post, using the Sharing options on your Dashboard.

With a good working knowledge of CSS, you could put the icons in the menu bar I think. Hallluke could probably do it. It would probably require that you put each icon in a separate text widget and then you would reposition those individual text widgets using position: absolute; and then specifying top and left values to move them up to the menu bar. They would actually be “over” the menu bar, but would appear like they were in it.
