Can I add new widgets to hosted wp sites?

    I found a wp widget online that I’d like to add to this blog. Can I do that with a hosted wp blog? If so, please let me know how to upload the widget once I have it.

    Usually, if they are plain HTML If the are javascript, or contain forms or iframes, then no, those are not allowed for security reasons. Flash is not directly supported, but in many cases it can be used with the gigya shortcode. We would have to see the code in order to give you any definitive answer.

    I have found a Widget on-line and want to use it on my blog. I am writing because I found this when searching for How do you add new widgets.

    Are you telling me there’s no way to add widgets that are not on that list to a free blog hosted on wordpress.com?

    The only widgets we can use are those that are straight up HTML. If you can find others that do not contain embeds, Iframes, javascript or flash you can use them. However, if you were specific about exactly which widgets you want and what you want to accomplish we may be able to come up with a workaround.

    I can not tell if the note from the forum is saying that a work-around may be possible for a javascript widget or not.
