Can I add text somewhere to my wordpress.com blog

I would like to add just a bit of text to somewhere on my blog–preferably the footer–giving credit to the site/developer that created my header. I’m very new to this, so I’m hoping to find some very step-by-step instructions for doing this. I appreciate the help!

Is this your site? http://beckylevine.wordpress.com/ Without the paid CSS upgrade, you can’t add text to your footer. You can, however, put it in a text widget. Take a look at the FAQ on widgets http://faq.wordpress.com/category/widgets/
