Can I add the Facebook like button at the top of my blog?
-
The Facebook ‘like’ button is at the very bottom of my blog posts and I think that’s hindering acquiring ‘likes’. Is there a line of code that I can add so that it appears at the top of all blog posts?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m afraid you won’t be able to put just the Facebook sharing icon at the top of your post. However, you could use some CSS to move all of your sharing icons to the top of the post instead of the bottom. Would that work? If so, I’m going to direct you to our awesome CSS forums for the actual CSS code:

We have some awesome gurus there that will be able to help out!

Thanks Jeremy. I didn’t see the answer to my question in the forum. Is there someone that can help me with this?
I have two issues:
1. moving the sharing icons to the top of the post would be great
2. Can I add the Facebook like button at the top of each post? Thanks!

Hi Samta!

Yep! Just create a new thread in the CSS Customization forum here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization
At the top of the page, click “Add New.” One of our masters of CSS will be able to help out!
Can I add the Facebook like button at the top of each post?
You will only be able to select from the sharing styles shown on this page:
https://shaadishopblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing
Here’s a screenshot of the selection:
The “Official Button” style comes close, but it will read “Share” rather than “Like.”

Thank you so much Jeremey! The ‘like’ button is pretty important to me, I’m thinking I might need to switch to a new theme that can accommodate that. Is there a way to know which themes allow the Facebook ‘like’ button in each post?
Also, if I move to a new theme, does all of my current content move too, or does it get wiped out upon moving?
I really appreciate your help Jeremey! (Just realized I’ve been spelling your name incorrectly; sorry!)

You’ll find the same button styles across all of WordPress.com. The buttons will not change based on theme.
Just to confirm, you’re looking for a “Like” button for your posts, not a “Like” button for a page you own. Correct?
We do have the option of adding a service as explained here:
I’m trying to use this to add the “Like” button from Facebook, but I’m having a bit of trouble with the “Sharing URL”. Still working on it though!

All of your content will get transferred over when you switch themes. You can think of themes like a skin that fits over your content. The only thing you may need to set back up are widgets. However, if a widget gets removed, it will not be removed completely. You’ll just see it under an Inactive listing on Appearance -> Widgets.
