Can I adjust posts shown per page/category by individual page/category?

  I’ve been trying to set up my site to show only my single most recent post on the recent posts page, however I can’t find a way to do this without it also showing just one post per page on the category pages I have set up. Am I just missing something, or is this only fixable through changing themes and such?

  Usually the post per page setting is applied to all index pages (archive, search result, home, etc). Unfortunately that level of customization you want is not available at the moment on WordPress.com. Thanks for your feedback!
