Can I align an image in the corner of a piece of long text and still wrap it around?

  Hi folks, I’m setting up a biographical page for the site I admin, and I’ve come up against a bit of a mystery. I don’t even know if this is possible, but here’s an outline of what I’m trying to do.

  The layout I’ve got in mind is to have biographical information for each person on the right-hand side of the page, and a photo on the left. At the moment I’ve got the page laid out in columns, just so I can get an idea of how it’ll look when it’s finished.

  What I’d like to do is to have the photo appear as if it was an inset against the left margin, with the text wrapping underneath it if the text is longer than the picture is high. Because they aren’t all in the same ratio, I’ve resized the pictures to the same width. I’ve tried playing with the settings for the first piece (the chairman) this afternoon, and none of the subsequent content was in the right position.

  I admit that I haven’t gone into huge detail in the HTML guidelines and forums, but I was wondering if it’s even possible to have the picture in the top-left corner (so to speak) with the text wrapping around it, and repeat this a number of times without the formatting going awry.

  There’s no huge rush for this, as the elections are only five months away and the local group has yet to realise that time is closing in on us. But I’d rather be prepared when they do finally get their collective finger out and start sending me some content.

  Well, I’ve done a bit more potching (or ‘magic’, as we in Plaid Cymru call it), and it seems to be working okay for now. I think the trick is to type the text first, then insert the picture afterwards, and sort out the alignment at the end. A bit counter-intuitive perhaps, and probably the opposite of how I’d do it in something like Scribus, but I think I’m getting there. Watch this space …
