Can I allow commenters to delete or edit their own comments?

  Can I allow commenters to delete or edit their own comments?

  I am running a poetry blog where others contribute poems and critiques. It’s almost like a forum and it seems to be important to them that they be able to edit and delete their own comments, without having to put requests through to me.

  Is this something I can enable for them?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  Unfortunately, it isn’t possible for commenters to edit or delete their own comments. Only site administrators can delete comments.

  The only way to allow users to edit their own material would be to invite them to be a contributor user role on your blog and create their own blog posts:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#contributor

  Just a note, if they were contributors to your blog, they wouldn’t be able to publish posts (you would need to actually click the “Publish” button).

  I understand! We don’t have plans of adding it at the moment, but perhaps it will get added in the future.
