Can I ask people to sponsor my non-charity personal blog?

I’ve looked at the paypal buttons and it seems like the “donate” button is for non-profit only (according to paypal). The “buy now” button seems inappropriate since I don’t sell anything. Couldn’t I simply say support this blog via paypal, here is my email? Or if you have some other arrangement available.

You have a free hosted blog with not upgrades ie. you are blogging free of charge here. What expenses are there to donate to? You have one choice at WordPress.com and it’s the PayPal donation button. http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

But there are instructions here on how I can add the “buy now” button on wordpress.com, and it’s commercial. How can that be? The expense is simply that I would like people to sponsor the blog so that I can devote more time to it.

Could anyone please resolve this? I know most people just use the donor button but clearly that is wrong. And the buy now button is also wrong. How about a “support” button?
