Can I block a follower

  If I don’t want someone following me can I block them? I cannot find info re this, and/or instructions on how to do it.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  If your blog is public then anyone with an email address can follow your posts, the only way I know of to avoid this is to make your blog private, but that will apply for all visitors to your site.

  Yep! If you’re worried someone will start misbehaving on your blog then you might want to check out the Settings > Discussion area where you can set the approval and moderation rules for comments to best avoid these types of situation.

  Well, they haven’t left a comment yet. I just want to block them from following me. But I guess if my blog is public, anyone can follow. I’m not actually worried that they are going to leave rude comments or anything. They like my work. I was just very turned off by their screen name. Very.

  I understand the argument that a public blog means that everything on it is public but I still think one should have the right to block a malicious follower without affecting all those out there who have a genuine interest in your blog.

  I have a cyber-stalker who trawls the internet for any group or site that I am a member of, signs up to those groups contacting people who are members to find out more about me. This person never makes contact with me directly but instead contacts “mutual friends” pretending to be my long deceased parent, commenting on the information gleaned electronically….sometimes it is malicious and damaging but never approaches the level of a credible threat. This person is sick and, of course, I find it distressing.

  The end result is that I find it uncomfortable to use my blog at WordPress because I cannot block their ability to read my posts and have now listed it has private.

  Yes, you can argue it both ways, i.e. I need to toughen up or that one should be able to limit the accessibility of posts for personal reasons.
