  can I build my site and link my domain later???
  I want to see how this works first and if I even like it.

  Hi there,

  Yes, you can use a free .wordpress.com address to build your site and when you’re ready you can link your domain and launch your new site. This way you can build your site while keeping your current one unaffected.

  Thank you for the answer. This should be placed in the instructions instead of a link to domain name step.
  Why would I want to link the site to my domain name when it’s not even finishes? Also, if I haven’t even had a chance to experiment with this platform, I don’t even know if I want to use it and ever go live.

  When you are asked to add a domain you can choose whatever works best for you, either a free subdomain, a newly registered one or connecting one you already own. An address is needed to be able to create a site on WordPress.com.
