I have the domain name ‘gabrielsohana.com’ I want to transfer it to wordpress. If I pay for business and pay to transfer, will it stay exactly the same? Not change to gabrielsohanacom.wordpress.com etc. Can I build a website first and then change the domain to the already built site? Can I transfer my email address exactly too?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

I have the domain name ‘gabrielsohana.com’ I want to transfer it to wordpress. If I pay for business and pay to transfer, will it stay exactly the same? Not change to gabrielsohanacom.wordpress.com etc.

The underlying WordPress.com address of your site gabrielsohanacom.wordpress.com will always be there, but after you transfer your domain to us and set the domain as primary, your visitors will see your site at the domain gabrielsohana.com. The WordPress.com address will then redirect to the custom domain gabrielsohana.com that you will have set as primary.

If you need the instructions to transfer the domain to us, here they are: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

Please note that a paid plan, like the WordPress.com Business plan that you mentioned, is required for a custom domain to be set as the primary address. You can check out our plans and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/plans

Can I build a website first and then change the domain to the already built site? Can I transfer my email address exactly too

You can build the site first and then transfer the domain + set it as the primary address later. The site you build will then show up at the domain once it has been configured. We can help you with that later on.

As for emails, can you clarify if you have existing email services from another company? Do you want to keep your email subscriptions from the same company or do you want to purchase a new email service through us (like Professional Email)?

Based on what you’d like to do, we can give you a more accurate answer. Generally speaking, if you have an existing email service, you can keep it as is by making sure that the DNS records for the email service provider are transferred over with the domain. We can help with setting that up. We’ll just need to know the DNS records which your email service provider can give you.

Let us know if you have any further questions.
