can i buy a theme and install it someplace else? i have a site i would like to buy a theme and use it for, but i do not want to connect it with my kkirwan.wordpress.com account.

Themes on WordPress.com are specifically made for this platform and cannot be downloaded for use on self-hosted sites or sites on other blogging platforms. WordPress.org has many themes that are similar to themes available on WP.com that might work for you: http://wordpress.org/themes/

thank you for your reply. But I should have explained it a little better. I have an alternate wordpress installation, with Genesis installed there as well. However, The StudioPress theme “Modern News” is a child theme for Genesis and is only available here, not even on their site (that I could find). So, what I meant was, if I buy it here, is it a download to my computer that I can then install on any wordpress site that also has Genesis framework installed?

If the other site is self-hosted the answer is no. WordPress.com themes cannot be downloaded for use anywhere else.
What is the URL of the other blog?

Ah, i understand. It is a wordpress installation on a server for a company I work for, it is not hosted on wordpress.com. I suspected as much, so I asked before purchasing the theme. Thanks very much for your help!

No problem. Go take a look at the wordpress.org themes. Maybe you’ll find one you like there.
