Can I change blog name/address & more

  I pay extra so I can have my own background- but my questions is- can I change the name of my blog and still be able to use the background of my choice? Or how does that all work?

  When you say “change the entire web address” do you mean new-name.wordpress.com or new-name.com?

  If you change to new-name.com then you register the name and then upgrade to Domain Mapping and point the new name at your existing blog then the only thing that changes is the address.

  I think your CSS upgrade is specific to a WordPress.COM site so if you changed to new-name.wordpress.com you would need to purchase the CSS upgrade if that is what you are using for the background mapping.

  By the way – many Themes have the ability to change the header and background with no upgrade.

  Right now I have a name-wordpress.com blog and I just want to rename the blog like you said to new-name.wordpress.com
  But I all ready paid for the CSS upgrade to allow me to use my own background and stuff, and was wondering if I will have to pay again to upgrade the changed name? Does that make sense?

  It looks like a new-name.wordpress.com would be a new upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/

  WordPress.com does have a 30 day refund policy so it you are inside that you could probably cancel and re-purchase. Contact the Staff if you have detailed questions, sometimes they seem to be a soft touch in the customer service department and do work hard to help.

  If you change your address and want to keep the same content on the new blog you will need to do an Export then Import. Then you want to make the content on the old blog not visible to search engines as search engines really hate duplicate content. this can be done by setting the old blog to Private, Password protecting all the old Posts and pages, or deleting the pages, if you delete the old blog the name is gone gone forever and you will never get the old name back, so the smart advice is to keep the name.
