Can I change my purchased domain name?

After I joined WordPress I purchased a domain name gcocophotography.com. I would like to change the name. Can I do that or do I have to wait until next year when it expires?

Hi there,
When you register a custom domain name, you get ownership of that exact domain name to use with your site. There isn’t a way to change that domain name, but you’re welcome to register another domain name if you’d like a different one: Register a New Domain
You can have as many custom domain names linked to your site as you’d like. The primary domain on your site is the one visitors will see in their browser’s address bar when they go to your site.

If I register a new domain (the URL I want to use for my business) and map it to my current domain what happens when the current domain name expires? Will I be able to change it to the new domain name that I want and not lose any information on my site? While registering for a new domain it is asking for payment and I don’t want to pay if I lose my site information or have to recreate it, I will just use the current site for now.

You won’t lose any of the information on your site, no matter what you choose to do with your domain names. We save your site’s content along with your site’s free WordPress.com address behind the scenes, so nothing on your site changes even if you change the domain name.
If you’d like, you can register your new domain now and I can cancel the old for you so you don’t have to deal with it later.
Alternately, you can wait until the older domain name expires and cancel it then. Either way, as long as you cancel the older domain name, your new domain name will continue working.

I cancelled your old domain gcocophotography.com. Your site is now available only at the new domain here: http://ginadinvernophotography.com/
It may take some time for that domain change to take full effect and your new domain to start working everywhere. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help.
