Can I control who reads each post?

I used to blog with LiveJournal.com, which I liked because I could make custom lists from my friends list, and control exactly who reads each individual post. I switched to MySpace because most of my friends ended up there, which was ok, but I didn’t have as much control as to who could see each post (just everyone, friends, and preferred list). I am no longer using MySpace, but do not know if I should go back to LJ (which no one really uses now, at least of my friends), or set up a private WordPress on my domain (I am a photographer and already use WP for my business blog).

I want to be able to set who reads each post. I know people will need to register on the site to control this. Is it possible to make lists of the people that register and in a post, just let a particular list of registered people to see the post? For example, I might have a family list, a friends list, and closest friends. Is that possible?

Not as such. Livejournal has the best privacy controls of any social media platform, bar none, and there’s no such calibration here.

You can make an entire blog Private and give access only to a few people (35 or fewer) or you can make a blog Public but password-protect individual posts. Those are your options; as far as I know, you can’t password-protect individual posts on a private blog, but you could test it on a throwaway blog if you are interested.
