Can I Convert WordPress Blog Content to Text

I’m working with an author who is blogging and would like to convert her posts to text for inclusion in her next book. Apart from cutting and pasting is there a way to ‘easily’ convert blog posts (or the XML) file from blog format to relatively clean text? Appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

Another thing you can do is upload the *.txt files like one would a picture file and just provide a link within a post.

I would also like to know how to convert my blog to a text format. I would like to take it offline permanently, but would still like to read it (and possibly write in it) occasionally on my computer. Is there a way to convert it into html?

You’ve been a member for only 9 hours so I’m wondering how much blog content can there be? Perhaps simply opening the the posts and pages you created withe “edit” and using copy and paste technique to take the html content out of the blog and put it wherever you like is the way to go. Then you can delete the blog if that’s your intention.

You can export it out into XML format at Dashboard -> manage -> Export. There’s a plugin for regular wordpress that will allow you to import it elsewhere.
That’s probablt the best we can do around here.

thank you for replying, i actually have been keeping the blog for well over a year, so there is too much stuff for me to simply cut and paste.
please forgive my ignorance, but i can’t seem to find this legendary Dashboard, nor a command to export into xml.

you can actually take the exported *.WXR file, and open it up in openoffice. it ain’t pretty, but you can at least edit it.

Your account says you’ve been a member here for 10 hours. I’m going to assume that you’re not hosted here at wordpress.com and are in fact at the wrong site. You need to be over at http://wordpress.org as you’re running different software.
Suggestion: Always read something that says Read me first before posting :)

Login to your blog. First page of your login will be the Dashboard. Says it in nice big letters :)
Exporter is at Dashboard -> Manage -> Export. That’s moot though if you’re not hosted here since our software is different that what you’re running.
