Can I create a custom post type on my WordPress.com blog site?
-
I’d like to create and use a custom post type for movie reviews, to show up on a separate page on my WordPress.com blog site, The Burlington Express. I’d appreciate any help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not, unless your theme supports. What sort of content are you hoping to publish using custom post type?

I’d like a separate page for blogs on movie and book reviews – most of my blog readers are older relatives, and having different blog post “categories” is confusing to them – they just see the most recent post at the top of the screen, and it’s not intuitive to look for the “category” button and click on only the update posts. I don’t want them to have to page through my posts to sort out the reviews from my general updates. I have searched for themes that support custom post types, but it’s not a filter selection in wordpress.com that I can see. I see lots of helpful programming instructions for WordPress.org – but I have the .com version. Perhaps I’m missing something?
I really appreciate your reply – thanks for helping me to better understand this topic.

May be you can create a page for movie reviews which displays only the posts in the movie reviews category.
Could you check the Category Pages support document and see if it is what you are after.
Once created, your visitors will have to go to only one page which contains all your movie review posts.
