can I create a duplicate blog automatically?
-
I’m setting up a blog, I realise I’ve done it under the wrong address, but I don’t want to give up the address. Therefore I have to set up another blog. Is there a quick way I can do that by copying everything automatically to a new blog with a different address? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, It doesn’t. It specifically will not let me keep my old address. I really think I have to remake the blog with a different address. But I am surprised there is no way of cloning/duplicating it so that I don’t have to do it manually.

There are instructions for exporting/importing your content from one site to another in that support doc.

Not if you have (or create) a second site to import the content of the first site to.
That support doc includes:Using a WordPress.com Site Address You Already Own
Site addresses cannot be moved to a different site. If you wish to add content to a site address that you’ve used previously or already own, you will have to import the content you want to use manually by following these steps:Export the content from your current site by following the steps in our Export guide
Import the content into your new site with the site address you want to use by following our Import guide

Right, I see that now. But I can’t duplicate (automatically) the blog itself, ie the look, the categories, layout, all that….

I’m afraid not. (At least not here at WordPress.com….) You’ll need to recreate the layout, menu, categories, theme etc if you want the site to look identical.

Thanks for confirming that! I have a similar look to some of my blogs but I’ve had them for so long I couldn’t remember if I’d done that manually. Evidently I must have.
