Can I create a page that has and automatic content index of just one category?
-
My blog (http://lanocheyelhombre.com/ using the Ryu theme) is divided in two broad categories: “Fotografía” (photographs) and “Poesía” (poems).
I want people to easily find poems by their title using an index, just as you would in a book. I need a “Index” page that has all the links to the published entries under the “Poesía” category in alphabetical order.
I have already a Category Menu called “Poesía” (http://lanocheyelhombre.com/category/poesia-2/) but it just filters all poems, you still have to scroll down through all of them to find the one you want.
I know people can use the search option to do this, but sometimes people don’t remember the title and want to browse through only the titles.
I have thought of just manually doing a Page and writing down in alphabetical order every title of each poem I have published and link them to their respective entry. But it seems too much work for something that can be automated, specially because all the poems I publish are under the same category and nothing else is published in that category.
I would prefer it to be automatic, but if I have to update it by hand every time I add an entry I do not mind it as long as it works. I am just looking for an easier option.
In advance, thank you very much for your help and time,

Hello there,
To create a Page that contains all the links to your poems, and places them in alphabetical order, you’d have to do this manually.
You could also create a Custom Menu item, that when clicked on, would have a drop down menu of all your Poems in the order you desire.
Let me know if I can help further with this. Thanks!

Thank you, thatrobyn, that’s very useful news, although not the best ones. I guess I just have to work to get what I want =)
It would be useful if you could make an automated command for that, though.
Thank you for the help.

Hi Sergio, I recommend adding your suggestion to our users’ Ideas forum. Let our developers know that there is an interest out there for this function. It’s not a request I’ve ever gotten before, certainly.

Thanks much and best of luck!

Hi Sergio!
The Display Post Shortcode will definitely work for what you’re looking for. It looks like they’re now ordered alphabetically. Can you let me know if you achieved the look you were looking for?

I have! I just needed to add:
orderby=”title”Thanks for all the help, you guys have been great.

Not a problem Sergio! I’m glad we were able to get this worked out. Let me know if you need anything else.
