Can I create a password protected client area on my site?

Is there a simple way to create a client area that is password protected on my website? Ideally, each client has their own unique password allowing them to access/view their photographs? Everything I’ve read online seems to need, to me, complicated methods/codes/plugins to make this possible…Can anyone help?

That is not possible on a wordpress.com hosted site.
Your whole site can either be private, meaning that readers must have a WordPress.com account and be invited. Or individual posts and pages can be set to private and anyone with the password can read them.
