Can I create a permalink to a post before I publish the post?

I would like to be able to schedule posts to publish on later dates, but be able to share the link of the yet to be published post with a few people. Is there way to generate a permalink to a not yet published post so it can be shared on someone else’s blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot link to an unpublished post. Until a post is published it will not be available for other people to link to it.

It seems like there are ways to do what I need to do, but I the instructions I find are for blogger/blogspot. Here is what I found: http://www.laurenwayne.com/2010/04/determine-blogger-post-url-in-advance.html
Does WordPress use similar rules as Blogger when generating the URL for a post?

I now understand better what you want.

Just to be clear, before a post is published the link (in any format) is useless to anyone except you.

When you are using the traditional post editor, you will see the permalink fill itself out just below the text box for the post title. You can copy and paste or edit the permalink as needed. Once you save a draft, you will see a “Get Shortlink” button added to that line. You can click that and get a much easier to copy and share shortlink.

Remember! If you give this link to someone else, they will not be able to see the post until it is published!

I hope this helps answer your question. Please let me know if I can help with anything further.

Thank you for your help. The question that I have specific pertains to posts that I am creating and pre-scheduling for my blog, https://honeybeelane.wordpress.com/. I am part of 3 different card challenge/card-making design teams. I have access to the admin blogs where I need to link up my card/photo. I would like to include a a permalink to the post which will contain said card prior to the challenge post going live. The administrators of these challenges need a photo and a link to card/post prior to the date when both their and my post are scheduled to go live simultaneously. I have observed/am guessing that people use different methods to include their links before publishing the post. 1. They include a link to their blog. (So if they post something after said post, the internet users are not taken to the desired post, but to the top post at the blog) 2. The author goes in and manually edits the link at the admin blog after the post has published. 3. The author has figured out what the URL is going to be/how to edit the URL so they are able to share the link at the admin blog days/weeks prior. Here is an example of the type of post that I am talking about. http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com.au/search/label/Sketch%20Challenge I have access to the admin blog for this website. I see what you are talking about now and will try your suggestion. Thank you!

I’m not sure what your solution is in this case. I would still recommend scheduling the post and using the shortlink created at that point.
