Can I create a widget area?

    My theme is Eventbrite Multi Event, and I only have one widget area, which is a sidebar. I am wondering, is there a way to add a footer widget area, or any other widget area for that matter?
    Or, is this something that can only be done with wordpress.org?

    Howdy,

    Yes, each theme defines whatever widget areas as determined by the theme’s developer and that can only be changed (by the end user) on WordPress.org-based sites using a little code.

    I’m sending this over to our theme team for consideration, though I can’t say if or when it could be added.
