Can I create different identities without creating new users?

  I’d like to create a fake group blog where 5-6 different characters write posts, but in reality, it’s just me posting under different usernames, pretending to be different authors.

  I know I could do this by creating different WP accounts and assigning each of them as users and logging in as each of them separately – but that seems like a pain.

  Is there any way to create different character identities without creating new user accounts?

  And each new username will require a unique email address.
