Can I create the website and then transfer my name domain ?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Good morning,

I would like to recode my website (which is not coded in WordPress) via WordPress while keeping my domain name.

Is it possible to code the whole site on WordPress for free and then transfer it to a hosting provider in order to keep my domain name? Because when I want to create my site by transferring they ask me directly to pay the Personal subscription and I would like to make a first draft for free before committing and paying. I think that when I am sure that I have succeeded in coding it and that the result will be satisfactory I will be ready to pay the annual subscription but I would like to be sure that I reach the desired result before committing myself for 1 year.

  • Hi, no problem. You’re welcome to create your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

While you can start free, I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:

Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain.

Let us know if you need more help!
